To address regional voltage discrepancies in South America, a newly engineered batch of three-phase low-voltage transformers has been successfully deployed for a commercial generator system integration project in Brazil.


In Brazil's industrial and commercial sectors, operating personnel frequently encounter mixed supply voltages—specifically between 220V and 380V three-phase systems—depending on the local regional grid and specific equipment requirements. When onsite power generation is required, modifying the internal windings or alternator control systems of existing generators to match different output voltages is often prohibitively expensive and technically risky.


To resolve this issue efficiently, the engineering team implemented a specialized 220V to 380V three-phase step-up transformer solution connected directly to the generator output end. By stepping up the generator's standard 220V output to a stable 380V, the plant can power high-voltage load equipment without altering the generator's core configuration.


"Re-configuring generator alternators to meet different site voltage requirements creates substantial hardware and labor costs," explained Alex Wu, Senior Electrical Application Engineer involved in the project. "Integrating a dedicated low-voltage step-up transformer at the generator terminal provides a highly cost-effective, plug-and-play adaptation. It allows the customer to safely operate 380V machinery while keeping total project expenditure within a well-managed budget."


The supplied transformers feature high-efficiency copper windings, optimized impedance design for handling inductive motor loads, and robust insulation built to withstand harmonic stress from generator outputs.



Following successful routine factory testing and secure export packaging, the units arrived on-site in Brazil, passed insulation resistance checks, and were seamlessly commissioned alongside the generator units. This practical power solution underlines how targeted transformer engineering can solve complex voltage matching challenges across international markets.
